The AppleTV receives streaming content over WiFi and outputs it via HDMI cable directly to a TV set or AV-Receiver.

The AppleTV (in this project version 2 is used) is connected via the WiFi network. It may receive content list updates and play media streams either directly from the Internet (e.g. YouTube, Watchever) or from the Media Center via Home Sharing. By means of Apple's bundled IR remote control or Apple's “Remote” app for mobile iOS devices content lists can be browsed and audio, video or image content can be played, paused or stopped.

The TV set is connected via HDMI cable to the AppleTV and is used to:

• display the AppleTV menu dialogs and media content as listings or icons on the screen
• play back the selected video/audio/image content from the Media Center
• watch TV programs via the integrated tuner
